Recently I started growing my own herbs and after a few weeks they started getting to big for their starter pots. I needed 12 planters and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on them. It’s just pots, I don’t need to be spending $100 buck on them. Eventually, I found these West Elm planters, but there were a bit on the pricey side. I realized I could probably do this myself for MUCH cheaper. I hit up Lowe’s and bought 12 small 4” terracotta planters, saucers and a chalkboard spray paint (Total: ~$25 with tax). In the end I spent $2.09 on each planter, that’s a 1/5th of the price of the West Elm version!
First I spray painted the pots in an open area with lots of air circulation. I let them dry for an hour and used chalk pens to write the name of the herbs on them. I was afraid to spray paint the interior since I wasn’t sure if the spray paint/chemicals would affect the growth of the plant. Overall, they look great and all my plants are happy once again.
