Watermelon and Strawberry Agua Fresca

Watermelon and Strawberry Agua Fresca

I’m currently in the process of weaning Elara from breastfeeding. It’s so easy they said, you’ll love the freedom they say. Well, it turns out when you’re weaning, your hormones go crazy and it’s almost like you’re pregnant again. The intense thirst and crazy cravings hit me hard! I can’t get enough water. I drank almost a gallon the other day! Today, I woke up and craved some agua fresca!

Watermelon and Strawberry Agua FrescaIt’s also getting warmer over here in San Francisco! Yesterday, I took Elara out to the park and I actually had to take off her jacket! That never happens! I thought it might just be hot flashes, but it wasn’t! Everyone else was enjoying the warm sun. I even considered going swimming!

Watermelon and Strawberry Agua FrescaWith warm weather comes cool drinks. Agua fresca was my go to when I was pregnant, and it’s my go to now. Agua fresca is a Mexican drink that is basically fruit blended with water, lime juice and a little bit of sugar.

Watermelon and Strawberry Agua FrescaYou can strain the blended agua fresca to get rid of the pulp so you have a smooth drink. I didn’t strain my agua fresca after I blended it because I actually don’t mind the texture. Also, you can omit the sugar to make it healthier or use a sugar substitute.

This is a great drink to make for a BBQ, picnic or for an outdoor Taco Tuesday! It’s so easy, you have no excuse not to try it out!
